Our Story

Makin Time Ranch was built from the ground up by Marc and Missy Nelissen, combining Missy's lifelong passion for horses with Marc's dedication to creating a place where horses receive exceptional care and owners feel at home.

With more than 40 years of horse experience, Missy has been involved in nearly every aspect of the horse industry. From breeding and raising prospects to training, competing, and helping horses recover and perform at their best, she's dedicated her life to learning what horses need to thrive.

For seven years, Missy also trained wild Mustangs, gaining invaluable experience in building trust, understanding horse behavior, and developing patient, thoughtful horsemanship that continues to influence every horse she works with today.

As a longtime horse owner, breeder, and competitor, Missy understands the unique needs of horses at every stage of life—from young prospects and performance horses to retirees and those recovering from injury.

Over the past 11 years, Marc has embraced the horse lifestyle alongside Missy. Together, they've built Makin Time Ranch with a shared commitment to hard work, honesty, and providing the kind of care they would expect for their own horses.

Located in the heart of Northern Arizona, Makin Time Ranch is more than a boarding facility. It's a family-owned ranch where Marc and Missy live on-site, personally oversee the daily operation, and are committed to providing a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for both horses and their owners.
